Something Beautiful about it

The Exhibition features 30 medium to large-sized paintings, where Lotfy embodies the idea of holidays, celebrations, rituals, and various traditional customs, some of which are still practiced today, while others have faded away. George revives these in his paintings, highlighting Pharaonic, Islamic, and Coptic art.
In his works, George Lotfy uses materials such as beeswax and 22-karat gold leaf. The characters in Lotfy’s paintings, including farmers and saints, are depicted in white garments, appearing to emerge from canvases that may date back to the eighth century. The artist’s choice of colors relies on expressive elements inspired by ancient paintings that depicted Christian stories, portraying ordinary characters in a manner similar to how the features of saints and believers were represented, capturing their stances as if everyone is in a religious or ritualistic gathering. Additionally, some paintings represent details from Egyptian folk heritage.
