The exhibition features a collection of paintings of several icons, including the world-renowned writer Naguib Mahfouz, the artist Naguib Al-Rihani, Salah Jahin, Tahia Carioca, the people’s artist Sayed Darwish, Salah Jahin, and Sayed Makawy.
Dr. Ghada Wali, Minister of Social Solidarity, stated that the “Ahl Cairo” exhibition by artist Amr Fahmy includes a diverse group of celebrities who have influenced us, as well as traditional Egyptian professions. She noted that the artist’s colors are vibrant and cheerful, and attention to detail is one of Amr Fahmy’s most important characteristics.
For her part, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Tourism, said during the opening of the exhibition that Amr Fahmy’s paintings accurately reflect the Egyptian character, as his brush has captured Egyptian icons to commemorate their roles and achievements. She added that he excelled in depicting traditional professions such as “the candy seller, the licorice vendor, and the clown,” among others.
