Samir Fouad
(Egyptian, b. 1944) was born in Cairo. Although his artistic talent shined since he was a child he studied electronic engineering and pursued a career in IT. After a successful career in IT he decided to devote himself full time to art in his fifties. He is fascinated with movement and time and uses sweeping strokes and scratches in his paintings. His subjects often look distorted as if caught in motion. Since 1997, Fouad has held 13 solo shows. He also represented Egypt in the International Watercolor Biennale in 2001 and Luxor International Painting Symposium in 2011. His work has been exhibited extensively in Egypt and abroad in the UK, Russia, USA, Kuwait, Dubai, Saudi Arabia and Lebanon.
