Salma Abdel Aziz

(Egyptian, b. 1952) is a professor and the former head of the painting department at the Faculty of FIne Arts, Helwan University for two consecutive terms from 2006 to 2012. In 1995 she was the director of Graduate Studies and Research Affairs at the same institution. She studied in Bucharest, Romania obtaining her BA in 1978 and her PhD in 1982 from the University of Bucharest Romania. She was a member of the Promotion Committee for professors and assistant professors in Faculties of Fine Arts and Art Education between 2004 and 2008. Overall she has participated in the Egyptian art movement through her participation in the general and groups exhibitions since 1977 inside and outside Egypt. She represented Egypt in several international exhibitions including: Drawing Triennial in Germany 1985 - 1986, the Youth Triennial in Madrid in 1989, an exhibition in Rome in 1991, Abu Dhabi in 1992, Germany in 1992, Japan in 1994, France in 1994, Beijing in 1995, Baghdad in 1988, Lebanon in 1995, Greece in 1995. She participated in the exhibition of the creation of women in Paris UNESCO’s celebration in 1995. Finally, she earned the first prize in the painting sector at the Motherhood Exhibition in 1974 at Ain Shams University.
