Ihab Shaker
(Egyptian, b. 1933, d. 2019) is one of Egypt’s most renowned illustrators, painters and animators. His career spans over six decades. In 1968, Shaker moved to France to study animation and work with Paul Grimault.
Shaker created 5 short animated films and has received many awards such as “Le prix de qualité du Centre national français.” He has represented both Egypt and France in many local and international exhibitions & animation festivals as both a participant and jury member.
Shaker is the creator of many beloved characters such as Shamsa & Dana. In addition to his animation work, he is one of the most prominent Egyptian plastic artists and oil painters since 1970, exhibiting not only in Egypt, but also Japan, Austria, and Italy.
