Gamil Shafik
(Egyptian, b. 1938, d. 2016) was born in Tanta. He graduated from Helwan Faculty of Fine Arts in 1962 with a specialization in painting. “He is known for his monochromatic ink works in very fine lines or pointillism. His sculptures made of driftwood convey movement and have a light, whimsical air to them.” His work was displayed in solo exhibitions in Egypt, as well as internationally, including in Lebanon, Norway and the United States.
