Farouk Wagdy
(Egyptian, b. 1936, d. 2012) was born in Kafr El Sheikh and grew up in the city of Desouk. He joined the Faculty of Applied Arts and graduated in 1960 from the department of decoration and glass. He is a member of the Fine Artists Syndicate and Applied Arts Designers. His work has been collected by art lovers in Egypt, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Lebanon, USA, Canada, Belgium, Korea and Nigeria. In addition to his work as an artist, Wagdy taught on the secondary level. He also worked in press, decor and as a writer of books about the history of ceramic design. He once said “When I deal with the colors, I can imagine humanity's heritage appears in front of me, embodied and growing inside me, then it comes out linked to all the arts that were born on our land Egypt.”
