Emad Abo Zeed

(Egyptian, b. 1965) was born in El-Gharbiyya. He earned a BA from the Faculty of Art Education at Helwan University in 1989. Next, he received his MA in art criticism and appreciation in 1996, and finally, he received his Ph.D. in 2001. He is a member of the Fine Artists Syndicate, Artists and Writers Association (Cairo Atelier), Al Ahlia Society of Art Lovers, Asala Society, and Al-Watan Society. He started his career in academia in 1995 when he was appointed as an assistant lecturer and he climbed the ranks until he was promoted to the position of professor. In addition to his work as an academic and professional artist, he is a chief editor of “The Fine Arts Horizons” publication and the supervisor of fine art activities in the Cultural Palaces Authority. Abo Zeed has received scholarships to study in Rotterdam, Holland, the UNESCO scholarship in Helsinki, Finland, and at Florida University in Florida, USA. His artworks raise important social and environmental issues. Although he specializes in sculptures, he excels at painting as well. He is fond of cave art which inspired including primitive symbols from the beginning of mankind in his paintings.
