Adel Al Siwy
(Egyptian, b. 1952) studied medicine at Cairo University and simultaneously did independent study at the Faculty of Fine Arts. He moved to Milan, Italy in 1980 for 10 years before relocating back to Cairo. His work is interdisciplinary like his education and he has mastered human anatomy which is a central theme in his work. He also explores the relationship between animals and humans. He has participated in various biennales in Cairo, Sharjah and Venice. His work has been exhibited widely in Egypt and abroad in Paris, Miami, Dubai, New York, Alger, and Rio de Janeiro. In addition to his career as a visual artist, Siwi has translated numerous art historical texts into Arabic by artists such as Leonardo da Vinci and Paul Klee.
