Zeinab el Segini
Egyptian, b. 1930

Zaynab Al-Segini, born on February 10, 1930, in Cairo, is a prominent Egyptian visual artist. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from Helwan University in 1956 and a Ph.D. in the Philosophy of Art Education in 1978.
Al-Segini held academic roles, including Head of the Design Department at Helwan University. She held solo exhibitions in Cairo, Alexandria, Lebanon, and Yugoslavia and participated in major exhibitions in Egypt. Her work, focused on women, particularly themes of motherhood and childhood, was praised for its emotional depth and symbolic expression. Art critic Salah Bitar described her work as "a world of deep emotions and feelings". Al-Segini is a significant figure in contemporary Egyptian art, known for her powerful portrayal of women's lives and struggles.
