Mounir Kanaan

Mounir Dawoud Kanaan, born on February 13, 1919, in Cairo, Egypt, and passed away on December 29, 1999, was a prominent Egyptian painter who made significant contributions to modern art in Egypt and internationally.
Self-taught, Kanaan developed a unique style and worked as a press painter for Dar Al-Helal and Akhbar Al-Youm from 1945. He held numerous solo exhibitions in Cairo, Rome, Paris, and more, with notable shows like "Towards the Unknown" in 1956 and "Egypt in Kanaan's Eyes" in 2001. His work was recognized with several awards, including the State Prize of Merit in 1997 and the Top Prize at the First Arab Biennale in 1984. Kanaan's art is housed in prominent collections worldwide, and his legacy endures through his impactful contributions to the art world.
