Hammoud Chantout
Syrian, b. 1956

born in 1956 near Aleppo, Syria, is a renowned artist known for his layered mixed-media works that blend abstraction and figuration.
A top graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Damascus, he later studied at the École des Beaux- Arts in Paris. His art explores themes of emotion, memory, and identity through textured compositions using acrylics, oils, and collage. Since his first solo exhibition in Damascus in 1977, he has shown his work in France, Jordan, Lebanon, Kuwait, and Canada. His pieces are held in private collections and major institutions, including Syria’s Ministry of Culture and the National Museum.
