He graduated from the Higher Institute of Art Education in 1964 and held prominent roles as artistic director for Al-Kawakeb, Al-Mosawer, and Dar al-Helal. Thabet has taught at the Faculty of Specific Education in Dokki and been active in various art organizations. He has held numerous solo and group exhibitions in Egypt and internationally, including at the Alexandria Biennale and Düsseldorf's Egyptian Contemporary Art Exhibition. His work is in several key collections, including the Museum of Egyptian Modern Art.
